What genre of movie to you enjoy most? what is your Favorite movie form this year/or last year?

Amanda Leigh said...

Hi everyone! Thanks for the questions so far!

@Emma Kate- I change my mind daily between Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy. Today it is Urban Fantasy.

@Marianna- LOL It's purple, with black and red followed closely behind.

@Cherry- Sadly it's mostly bad bday experiences that are standing out right now, but when I was a kid, my mom would put together some awesome themed disney parties for me.

@Rae Reads- Hmm, that's a really tough one for me. I love all animals. I had a rabbit when I was little, so I've always had a special place in my heart for them though.

@Diana- I used to say settled down, married, with kids, hopefully in a job I love. But now I honestly don't know.

@Emmagan-I love all genres of movies. And I really do mean just about all. I guess action tend to be the ones I watch over and over. Also, the cult classic type ones are good. Oh, and give me an awesome B movie to make fun of and me and my friend have entertainment for hours!

WHY aren't you coming to visit me for BEA?!?!?

Nah just kidding :P

Here's my super-awesome question:

If you had to choose 3 things to live with on a desert island, what would they be?

Let's say that a hottie already made a house for you guys to live in, so think more along the lines of creature comforts > necessity :)

Have you ever read The Administration series by Manna Francis?

lauren51990 at aol dot com

Amanda Leigh said...

@Robin K- Yes. Why not? Technology has opened the door to us finding more people with similar interests all over the world. :) I <3 my blogger friends!

@Bells- My brother got me to read the Chronicles of Narnia. My mom got me to read Anne of Green Gables. I also had a book called Mandy that I loved. I still have all those books on my bookshelf.

@mountie9- I <3 my new Canadian friends! I've actually been to Canada twice. Though I never stayed long either time, both were enjoyable!

@The Book Vixen- Yes, some. I read some historical romance and contemporary romance though no titles are on the tip of my tongue. I'm reading a thriller called Mania by Craig Larsen. I've been known to pick up other things as well. I'm open to a lot, even biographies every now and then.

@Tori- LMAO We've been over this BEA thing! lol How did you know a hottie and shelter would be on my list? Am I that predictable? Yes, I probably am. Hmmm, how about a computer filled w/ books and pictures and music and nice stuff like that. My angel worry stone. And.... my migraine medicine b/c otherwise I would go insane!

Amanda Leigh said...

@Nastassia- Nope, I've actually never heard of it. I must look into it! What's it about?

@elaing8- Hmmmm. Sadly I can't think of anything of the top of my head, maybe if I went through pictures... oh, my parents gave me a ring when I turned 13 and yes I still have it.

@Shooting Stars Mag- a performer. Either singing or dancing. I love both. While I'm not bad at either, I don't have enough talent to have a profession at either. lol

Tori [Book Faery] said...

ROOOOFL They would both be on my list, and picking necessities > fun stuff just makes the answer less exciting :P

Hello and Happy Birthday Month!

What is your favorite book, so far, read in 2010? What book are you looking forward to this summer? Or would like to receive as a gift?

Sarah said...

Happy early birthday celebrations! I hope you have a great month :o)

My question is do you have any tattoos? If so what & where are they?

elizabethisaacs said...

Who was your favorite teacher and why?

Amanda Leigh said...

@Tori- LMAO Sure sure

@AliseOnLife- Hi and thank you! Ack, it's always so hard to choose! I think it's a tie between Soulless by Gail Carriger, Red-Headed Stepchild by Jaye Wells, and the whole Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost! I'm looking forward to getting the next books by Gail Carriger and Jaye Wells, b/c I'm behind!! Oh, or Adrian Phoenix's books! lol

@Sarah- Thank you! I don't have any yet. My main reason for not getting any so far is because I know once I get one I'll want more. That's how I was w/ piercings after I got the first one. lmao

Amanda Leigh said...

@Elizabeth Isaacs- My favorite teacher was a kind of tutor that taught me off and on in high school when my migraines got too bad for me to go to school. She was fantastic! I took a few classes from her in college too.

Happy Birthday (countdown)

I've got a question for you :-)

Could you see yourself writing a book & if so would it be a paranormal romance, urban fantasy or something completely different?

Christa said...

First, Happy Birthday! (Imagine hearing one of those noisemakers made of paper)...

Alright, so you get an interview from your fans for your birthday... that's original. ; )

Question: What is your favorite thing about blogging?
Or, What is your favorite food (not dessert, but food)? -- It always makes me sad when someone answers something other than "chocolate" so I'm protecting myself. lol. : )

Thanks!
Christa

Amanda Leigh said...

@Stacy Stew- You are surprising the only person to ever ask me that. But no, that's not why. I actually haven't even finished the first book. I had to return it to the library before I was through. I'll be answering the reasons behind my name May 13th. ;)

@Jennifer Mathis- Wow! Great question! I think I would want to go back to Victorian England. Yes that's today's answer to that question. lol

@Miss Bohemia- LOL Thanks! I wish I could write a book. The dreams that I have are amazing! I'd love to share them. Urban fantasy is where my heart is, but alot of my dreams are in their own strange unique world that would probably be more under general fantasy. Maybe or sci-fi sometimes. My head is a strange place to be! lmao

@Christa- Thanks! *blows noise maker too* I have fans? lol
My favorite thing about blogging has been meeting so many other people that love reading and books as much as I do and aren't ashamed of our book addictions. I was getting so tired of all my friends looking at me like I was crazy. lol
Oh, and favorite food (not dessert) is lasagna!

Amanda Leigh said...

Someone else always asks a question while I'm typing out my answers.... lmao

@Natalie- VAMPIRES!!! Oh, I can't pick that. Right. Ok. I do believe shifters have moved into the 2nd place spot lately. Actually they've been there for a few months now. I've been loving some of the shifter books I've read. Especially by Patricia Briggs!!

Blueicegal ♥ said...

Have you ever had a phase where you've just felt like you cant read anymore, where there's just to much going on and you just cant focus?

Amanda Leigh said...

@blueicegal- Yes. February of this year I had multiple deaths in the family. I don't know that I read more than one book all month. Whenever I tried I couldn't remember what I had read, so I just took a break from it.

Ok, so, I tried to come up with something witty and I came up empty.

But I did come up with a question for you so I'm not leaving here without asking anything! ;)

1) How did you discover the PNR/UF genre?

2) What's been the one book that really surprised you? One that maybe didn't expect to like but really enjoyed?

Unknown said...

great contest! i really like how original it is :)
my question is..

where is your favourite place to read? like in bed? of outside? or anything like that

thanks so much for the contest

misskallie2000 said...

Happy early Birthday. Don't forget you can celebrate all week so enjoy and have fun.

Question: Do you have any cravings when you are writing? ie. chocolate, popcorn, or certain music you listen to while writing? Or do you prefer no music and no cravings for chocolate?

misskallie2000 at yahoo dot com

Manda said...

Do you have any pets? And do you have a favourite genre of music?

Amanda Leigh said...

@Julie- I don't know if I could pick just one. I loved just about every Christmas spent with my family though.
As for vampires. I'm not sure. I remember liking them since I was little, I don't remember what started the fascination.

@donnas- Yes! Though over the years I went through spells where I wouldn't read as much some times, I've always been a reader at heart.

@Beth- I've always been a fan of fantasy, and paranormal beings, so when my mom first gave me a few young adult paranormal books about vampires knowing I'd love them, it didn't take long for me to work my way up to the adult genres.
Wings by Aprilynne Pike is the first thing coming to my mind about a book a loved that I didn't expect too. I'm really looking forward to Spells.

@ali- I read in bed the most, but I really enjoy reading on my screened in deck the most when it's nice outside and the pollen isn't trying to kill me. lmao And you're welcome! :)

@misskallie2000- Thank you! I can't concentrate if I listen to music when I write. Though I'll admit I haven't had a lot of creativity flowing lately. I have however had a constant craving for chocolate for the past month! lol

@Manda- I have a dog, who is kinda crazy, but I love her. And I guess rock is my favorite genre of music though I really enjoy a little of everything.

This really sounds like a great idea! I am going to go and fill in the form here after this message. I hope you are having fun so far this month. :)

Melissa (My World...in words and pages) said...

When did you start reading? Or when did you decide what your favorite genre was to read?

throuthehaze said...

What is the worst book you have ever read?

Amanda Leigh said...

@Gaby- I think that anything is possible and the second that you stop believing in that, the second you start missing out on a lot of wonderful things. ;) That said, I'm still a huge skeptic that takes some convincing in anything out of the ordinary.

@we HEART reading- I have been to Canada twice. Once I stayed the night when I visited Niagra Falls. Another time when I was on a road trip through Michigan, then into Canada, but I only stayed for a few hours before I headed back.

@Melissa- Fantasy was my favorite genre since I was in elementary school and my brother had me read The Chronicles of Narnia. Vampires are my obsessions. Eventually the two were going to meet. lol

@throughthehaze- I don't read many books that I don't really think I'm going to enjoy, and I'm usually pretty good at at least getting books that entertain me at the time. With that said... some books I had to read for school, like the Scarlet Letter I now hate. Though it's more because I had to analyze it to death than the book itself. My high school did not always plan reading assignments very well...

EVA SB said...

What is one thing that isn't readily apparent about you , but that you'd wish everybody would know?

echs2007@gmail.com

Okapi said...

What book would you reread over and over again?

Amanda Leigh said...

Grrr, I had a looong reply, and blogger ate it. *sigh*

@Linda- Thank you and yes I love magic in books, though it is not a requirement.

@Aik- I <3 me some chocolate! I think I just tweeted something about it actually. I do on a daily basis. lol

@Shy- I'm not sure if you're referring to people thinking I'm to old to read young adult or too young to read erotica, but other people's opinions have never held much sway over my life. I read what sounds good to me, which is why I haven't read very many books that I haven't liked. I'm over 18, therefor allowed to read anything, and young adult books aren't made for children. In fact, a lot of times when the authors are writing them, they weren't sitting down to write a young adult story. Well, that might not be as true lately. :)

@Jen- I am nothing like I appear to be, or that first impressions make me out as.

@Okapi- I've reread The Chronicles of Narnia so many times over the years!

Amanda Leigh said...

@skyla- ACK!! I've never been good w/ favorites... I usually pick favorite series, and even then it can depend on the day, or my mood, or anything else. I guess today I'm going to pick my favorite book from when I was younger. A Wrinkle in Time.
As for two things people might not know about me, I grew up as an army brat, so I've traveled all over the US, but only lived in a few places. Also, I have a weakness for dance movies..just watched Center Stage the other day. Guilty pleasure. :)

@Ashley- I'm ok being me and quit making apologies for it years ago. I'm a huge geek, but that's oddly part of my charm as well. ;)

@bianca_riot- Um, all of the above? LOL I own every single one of those movies, most of them in the collectors editions, see answer above and geekiness. lol
Fav boardgame, I always loved BINGO when I was a kid but no one would ever play it LOL. So it eventually switched over to LIFE b/c people would play that w/ me. I played a bunch of new fun ones when a friend was in town, but don't remember the names of them....

Do you think for a student, between health, studies and working for one's dream future job/ambition, which is more important?

Given the thing that person is studying right now, won't help his/her dream future job/ambition too much. Health = more sports and enough sleep. BTW that person don't have time to balance doing all the things above.

Kristen said...

My question is...

Is there a genre you really can't stand.. or a series? And do you give it a second try or do you just give up in the middle of the book?

Amanda Leigh said...

@Michikit- Wow, what a question! I have a hard time believing both look like any certain one thing. My idea of the perfect place would not be the same as most peoples, and it definitely doesn't involve fluffy white clouds. At the same time I think hell would be the culmination of your greatest fears.

@Candace- I don't blame you for skimming, this list has gotten long! I would have told her the truth, but I'm definitely not any type of authority on child raising.

@T.V. and Book Addict- As hard as it is for me to pick my fav books, it's equally as hard for me to pick fav bands. Linkin Park was my fav for a long time, so I'll go with them I guess. :)

@kimscarecrow- Ack! Umm... A tie between C.S. Lewis and L.M. Montgomery. I guess because they're the ones that really got me to fall in love with the written word.

@CrystalGB- I've never been a big fan of nonfiction for the most part. Oh, goodness there are so many authors I'd love to meet, I wouldn't know where to begin.

@Addicted Book Reader- I loved A Tale of Two Cities. I had to read and reread and analyze The Scarlet Letter so much I thought I would go crazy. The first time I came close to destroying a book. Don't worry I didn't.

@Alexandra- Harry Potter!! :D

@FionaChan- I was always focused on my studies and sports and friends when I was in school, and let my sleep and thoughts of the future take a backseat. Now, my health is the most important thing to me, but I've learned a lot more about balance and wished I had a lot earlier. Instead of doing so much of one thing or another, see if there's a way to pick and choose your favorite things and the things that are most important towards your future. It's important to have goals and plans, but you also want to be happy and healthy in the process.

@Kristen- I've never been a nonfiction person, and there are a few series that I've started and can't get into. I do give things a second chance though. A lot of times I can get more into a 2nd book than a first, or the beginning of a book is slow, but the end picks up. I rarely don't finish a book I start. I've found too many books that didn't start real well, but I ended up liking in the end.

My bad! I forgot to answer some questions!

@Wings- No it's not me, but it's a drawing that coming very close to how green my eyes can sometimes be. They like to change colors a bit, but they're usually mostly green. I'm a major music and movie junkie and love spending as much time as I can w/ my friends.

@ChickLitGirl- Sometimes. I have a thing for Cheezits and chocolate. lol

@Alwena- AH! I can't even pick a favorite band really let alone a favorite song. Hmmm... Change by Deftones works for today.

@YA Vampire Books- I want to see so much of the world, and I haven't been of this continent yet, so pretty much anywhere. lol
Literary crushes.. BONES! lol Curran and Dimitri too. I'm sure I'm forgetting plenty. Soccer is my favorite sport. ;)

@Stella- I've never been one for coming up with my dream casts. I tend to come up with a picture of an imaginary person in my head. It's rare I get an actor or actress in mind when I'm reading a book. Lit Crush- Bones! :) Fav books- Night Huntress series, Soulless, Red-Headed Stepchild, Nightworld series...

@heatwave- Do they have to be real people? My 2 best friends, Johnny Depp, James Marsters, and Bones (he's real to me!)

@Shalena- Gatlinburg is one of my favorite places. Floods suck!

@Spav- The next Night Huntress Book, Nightshade, Paranormalcy.... I'm so jealous of you people with ARCs of those last two...

@R.E.B.- It was Belle from Beauty and the Beast for a long time, then it switched to Jasmine from Aladdin. I <3 Disney!
