WOO HOO! I’VE REACHED 400 FOLLOWERS! I sure never thought this would have happened when I started this blog back in December. It seems like forever ago most of the time though. I can’t imagine what I would do without my blog, my faithful readers, and my blogger friends. You all ROCK!
So, now I would like you to help me out. How many of you like to read horror? Do you like that in your urban fantasy and with a paranormal element, or do you like horror more with a human element to it? Who are your favorite horror authors, books, series, etc. I know people have different ideas of what fits into the horror category, so what do you consider horror? Let me know in the comments.
Please take a minute to answer the poll in the top left corner of the page too! Thanks!
Much love to you all again for following! You have no idea how much I appreciate it! <3 <3

Well, i like Stephen King but i don,t know other horror autors...
Congrats on your 400 followers!
I actually prefer traditional horror over paranormal, with the exception of Anne Rice, who is one of, probably my most, favorite author. The traditional horror writers I'm talking about are Stephen King, Richard Matheson, Ramsey Campbell, John Saul, etc. I really enjoy a great horror novel. One of the best and scariest I've ever read was Hell House by Richard Matheson. (I did answer the poll too).
I voted "That depends. What do you mean by horror?" I love stories with vampires, werewolves, demons, etc., but not sparkly ones. I prefer dark paranormal romance and urban fantasy the best, but I'm not sure if that would be considered horror.
Congrats on 400 followers!!
Congrats on hitting 400! It's greatly deserved. I answered the poll as well :P
Congrats!
As for horror: I like some horror books, like some of the books by Dean Koonz, but I prefer Dark Urban Fantasy and Zombie stories where the zombies are actually out for brains.
I like traditional horror, supernatural, dark fantasy...all of my faves are male authors. Christopher Pike, Douglas Clegg, Stephen King, Dean Koontz, David Moody. Anything raw, realistic and entertaining.
Congrats Amanda! That is so awesome! I'm not really a fan of horror (well I've never read them) but I tried reading this one book. The House of Leaves I believe? Freaked me the hell out. I honestly could NOT tell what was based on the actual house and what was fiction. Talk about twisted. O.O
Congrats on reaching 400!
When I was in HS (a millenia ago) I read Salem's Lot and wouldn't open my windows for a year in a house without AC. So, me, Horror, not so much. As part of a story okay, but as the story, like Friday the 13th NOOOPE. If I want horror I watch the news.
I don't think it is the gore as much as as the victimization.
Congrats and Kudos on hitting 400! That is an achievement and you know how much hardwork it took to get you there!

Congrats on reaching 400 followers!!! I'm not really a horror fan , but I read books by Stephen King and Dean Koontz. I don't know a lot horror authors because I hardly read horror.
I answered the poll.
Congrats on 400 followers!
Horror is awesome. Stephen King, Simon Holt, RL Stine and Christopher Pike are all awesome horror authors. I like my horror with a slight human element but most importantly, I like to be scared. Not grossed out. Scared. I would think that's the point of horror!
Woo Whoo congrats on all the followers!!!
Congrats on the followers!!=)
As for the question I dont have a good idea of what horror is in novels but I am thinking I most likely wont like it. I am curious as to what books make the cut and what authors- who knows maybe I;ve read a couple!=)
I don't mind gritty urban fantasy with lots of blood and guts, but I don't read horror at all. I've got a very active imagination and it gives me nightmares (assuming I can fall asleep at all after reading it).
Yay! Congrats Amanda on 401 followers (right now)!! woohoo! :-D
I don't think I've ever read any horror novels.. I don't mind darka nd gritty UF or paranormal novels, but I'm a zombie virgin yet ;-)
Congrats!! I like horror but don't always read it, have to be in the mood. But enjoy some of Stephen King and I love Watchers by Koontz
Congrats on 400!
I am not actually a really big fan of horror. I actually lean toward the more thrillerish UF (mind type games) than all out horror :)
Congratulations! I voted 'it depends what you mean.' Because I don't really know how it's defined anymore. I've seen Kim Harrison's Hollows series in the Horror section at Borders, and I would never have thought to find it there.
Hi Amanda,
Congratulations on having 400+ followers :-)
I will read almost anything :-)
I haven't read any real horrors for a while but I did enjoy reading Stephen King, Dean Koontz & the like. I will still occasionally read one but I'm more of a coward now, so proper horror books about the Devil or Salem's Lot scare me lol!
Congrats on making it to 400 in such a short time! That's fantastic:) I'm not a huge horror fan, but I do love the paranormal and Urban Fantasy books. I like there to be more of an action and romantic plotline than a horror one.
Congrats on hitting over 400 followers, you so deserve this.
I love horror. I like them to have a paranormal theme. My fave authors are Christopher Pike from my teen years, I like Joe Hill Heart Shaped Box as well.
congrats on your 400 followers!!
I love about anything with a paranormal theme to it. I also read a lot of urban fantasy
I like traditional gothic horror. I don't need blood and guts, but I love suspense. Psychological thrillers are my taste. Either or on paranormal, since I like both. Ghosts, vampires, bumps in the night... All horror has a human element to me because the monsters are just a physical manifestation of the beasts in all of us. :) True Blood is a good example of how sometimes the humans do more bad things than the "real" monsters. I guess Laurell K Hamilton is the closest reading I get to horror with both her Anita Blake and Merry Gentry series. Otherwise, I like some Stephen King movies like Needful Things, Firestarter, the Secret Window, etc.
True modern horror is probably a bit more graphic than I prefer to read, but if there's a good plot to follow and a mystery to solve, I might deal with it.
Answered the poll, too.

Congratulations!
Congratulations! It's an honor well deserved. I guess you would say that I like urban fantasy - I love Kim Harrison. Then again, I also like YA paranormal fare like the Twilight Series (yes, I said it!) and LJ Smith. Above all else, it MUST be extremely well written. I really enjoy something with a great plot and good characterizations. I really like to know the characters and get a sense for who they are.
Congrats again, friend! Theresa
congrats! That is amazing and so quickly too! Way to go!
Congrats on your 400 Followers!!
Hmmm... horror. I'm not really into the horror genre. I used to read a little Stephan King, but that was years ago. I guess when I see the word horror, I think of blood and guts, stomach clenching with dread! LOL! So it definitely depends on how others view it.
Now I appreciate suspense in my UF or PR books, but not necessarily horror. Although, I wouldn't be opposed to it, I just haven't come across a book that has it in it.
