Kristin Stefanos Phone Interview

image

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity, thanks to a fellow blogger, to have a phone interview with Kristin Stefanos, the author of Lost Devil’s Throne. Since this interview went a little differently than most that I’ve done through email, I’m going to present it to you a bit differently as well.

Kristin Stefanos was born and raised in Chicago. She’s the oldest of four kids, and especially close to her younger sister. During her first year of medical school, she began writing Lost Devil’s Throne in her free time. That was 6 years ago. When asked what she loves about the supernatural, she says the loneliness especially drew her. Walking late at night on wooded paths got her thinking about her world.

Her favorite authors include Jane Austin, Charlotte Bronte, and Bram Stoker, with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle being her favorite. When asked what literary character she most identified with, she said Sherlock Holmes and the way he looks at the world, looking at all sides of a situation.

She went on to talk about Lost Devil’s Throne. Alex Drakis is a college student who thinks she’s totally average, and nothing special. Then one day, she finds out she is one of a few humans that can regenerate blood quickly, known as a sanguinem. These people are kept as kind of pets and a food source of the vampires. Lost Devil’s Throne follows the relationship between Alex and her vampire, Damian, over three years.

Neither of those characters are Kristin’s favorite. Her favorite character in the book is Aakarshan, the antagonist of the book. He’s a two thousand year old Indian vampire, with a complicated past and an ability to draw you in no matter what he’s trying to do. I can see where she’s coming from, because I kept wanting to know more and more about him myself. As for a favorite scene of hers to write, she says it’s the vampire ball that takes place in Turkey. There’s a fight scene in a palace. Which gave her a chance to really use her imagination and was a lot of fun to write.

I had a lovely time talking to Kristin Stefanos, and loved getting lost in her world in Lost Devil’s Throne. My review will be up later today! Thank you so much Kristin for taking the time to answer my questions!

@Felicia- Thanks so much! It was a lot of fun. Even if I was sick and she had to listen to me sniffling the whole time. LOL
