Ghost Story Giveaway

Howdy Everyone! Today Amanda has been gracious enough to let Chas and Myself *Steph* guest post on Not-Really-Southern Vamp Chick *sneaky grin* Thanks Amanda! So we would like to talk about ghosts today!
Steph’s Guest Post:
Here in Chicago we have alot of local ghost stories or urban legends. It’s actually a pretty haunted city now that I think of it *getting the creeps now*. One of our most famous ghost stories is the one about
Resurrection Mary! So the story goes it’s a dark and stormy night *of course* and while the motorist is driving down this long road he sees this young woman in a white party dress standing at the side of the road. He of course pulls over to ask if she needs a ride and before he knows it she is in the passenger side. He starts to drive although she tells him nothing of who she is or where to go. Then as he drives she suddenly screams “STOP”! Before he can stop and turn to her she is gone! As he looks up he sees that he has stopped in front of the Resurrection Cemetery.
Resurrection Mary has been sited since the early 1930’s down that same long stretch or road *Archer Ave* right by Resurrection Cemetery and at the Willowbrook Ballroom. Some interesting sitings at the Willowbrook Ballroom where cab drivers have picked her up and men have danced with her *gulp*. Every encounter explains Mary as a beautiful quiet fair skinned young woman with blond hair and pretty blue eyes. Also each encounter ends the same way with them bringing her down Archer Road and her suddenly telling them to stop in front of the Resurrection Cemetery. Each motorist says they never heard or saw her get out of the car she just vanishes...

What do you think? Do you believe this story? Heck do you even believe in ghost? Do you have any local ghost stories? If yes tell us the story . I leave you with final thought when you pass a cemetery on a dark and stormy night will you pick up that ghostly girl hitch hiker on the side of the road, lol!

Chas Guest Post:
Aloha Not-Really-Southern Vamp Chickies=) Thank you Amanda for the invite to share ghosts stories.
Hawai'i, like every where else has its own unique culture. Within culture thrives all sorts of life. The ancient Hawaiians were a highly oral people with a high literacy rate. Stories and legends were passed through the generations orally and could be recalled with clarity. A variety of old stories are still prevalent today like Ka huakai o ka po- Night Marchers, the Mehehune or of Pele (the Fire Goddess) disguising herself to seek aid and those who turned her away would perish as the lava flowed.

Though today, I am going to take Steph's lead and share a ghost story that also involves a woman ghost in a white dress. This story has origins in modern Hawai'i. Well, not so modern but certainly not ancient. The year 1917 on the lush East side of O'ahu, Hawai'i there is a tale of adultery that will have any husband or wife with roaming eyes and wondering minds think twice.
A man and his wife from the States came to live and cared for the Makapu'u Point Light House located in Waimanalo. Story goes, this husband met a beautiful Hawaiian girl who he was having an affair with. As time went on the wife had learned of this affair and demanded he break the relationship off immediately. Distraught, the wife drove away in tears. This road is very curvy today so back then I can only imagine how curvy and uneven it must have been. Anyhow, the wife lost control of her car and went over the side. It is said that as she was found, before death's grip, she uttered the words of revenge on her cheating husband.
Not long after becoming a widower, the husband lost control of his car and ended up in the same predicament with the same ending- entering death's door.
Years pass and there are still stories told and sightings of seeing a woman in a white dress walking along the road way in the dead of night. Many say to avoid her wrath leave your windows rolled up and lock your doors. Others have told stories of cheating husbands being caught by the scorned Woman in a White dress. Causing cars of cheating husbands to break down on the darkened road and being taunted by her apparition and whisperings.
So just like Steph asks- could this story be real? Or do these men need to get their cars tuned more often? Is it fair that the cheating men are singled out? Is this a load of poop? Well, no one knows but just like Steph has a story of a woman dressed in White clear across the Pacific blue some 3700 miles away. Hawai'i has a similar one and I am willing to bet you have one in your neck of the woods too?
For any of you who have been to Hawai'i or plan to. The Makapu'u Light House is a
popular destination. Plus, there is only one road there and back. Heck there is only one road connecting the East side. So chances are you have been there or will go there one day.
Will you be driving it at night? Beautiful by day- deadly by night fall? *Mwahahahahaha* A whole new spooky look at Paradise.
LovLivLife's Giveaway:
Hmmm, I was considering giving away a title about Ghost stories and legends in Hawaii but not much variety is available online. I can buy them locally but shipping costs can be the pits. So seeing has how Not-Really-Southern Vamp Chick & LovLivLife Reviews love the same kinds of books I would like to offer one winner a Book Depository book under $10 but it has to have something dealing with ghosts.
Search for a title then link it in the comments. *rubbing hands* I can't wait to see what you all come up with.
Both contests will end October 31st. Make sure you answer questions for both is you wish to enter both. :)
*Updated: Both giveaways are international as well. Sorry if I didn’t make that clear. So enter away! :)
